BRIEF HISTORY
In 2018, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest proposed the first laboratory dealing with the development and implementation of the emerging Blockchain technology, in partnership with the Department of Engineering and Systems Engineering of Old Dominion University, Virginia, United States of America.
The laboratory pursues through national projects, including private, European and international, the development of the capacities of using the Blockchain ecosystem through internships and international training courses, the initiation of formulas of international cooperation in this respect, the organization of events in Romania, the participation at relevant international events, promoting and supporting various forms of regulation of Blockchain technology issues by the Romanian Parliament and Government, responsible state authorities and many others.
ECEB – European Center of Excellence for Blockchain was established in 2018, by the initiative group formed by the National Institute for Research and Development in Computer Science - ICI Bucharest; Idea Factory Think Tank; Old Dominion University, Virginia, United States of America and the EURISC Foundation.
ECEB is designed to be a promoter of the Blockchain technology issue and its link to critical infrastructure protection for state institutions (such as finance, education, health, transportation, culture, agriculture etc.) as well as for the private sector, both nationally and internationally.
